About us
Our idea with gigsly was actually born many years ago when we saw that employers in restaurants far too often had to look for extra staff in panic every weekend via social media and similar forums. It was obvious that the restaurant industry could benefit from a streamlining of the recruitment process with solutions that simplified and improved. There was also no good alternative that was cost-effective enough to work for restaurants that are often drawn by small margins. Staffing companies can be helpful in the short term, but in the long term it will be far too costly.
At the same time, we know that many young people and adults are unemployed or simply in need of a little extra income and would have liked to take part in a solution that helps them find a job or simply try out working in different restaurants without a complicated recruitment process. Many young people from later generations also have a different view on work and we see clear signs that the labor market of the future will look different than today.
With over 15 years of experience in building scalable software that benefits the restaurant industry, it was time to put on the problem-solving hat again. The result was gigsly, which is both a beautiful and elegant solution to the problem.
The gig economy is the future, and it is here to stay. Gigsly is the perfect digital platform that connects restaurants that often need staff at short notice with workers who are happy and ready to get the job done.
You may have already encountered the term “gig economy” in relation to apps like Uber, Foodora or Tiptapp. The word comes from the music industry where a musician often lacks a job but rather accepts work that is called “gig”. Gig economy defines a business model where people are employed on a contract basis with the absence of employment. This model has several great opportunities for both companies and people where flexibility and choice are central.
- Covid has accelerated the growth of the gig economy
- The gig economy as a whole accounts for the world’s second highest number of jobs
- To put this in perspective, a third of the world’s workers are employed in the gig economy
- Transactions is expected to increase from $ 204 billion to $ 455 billion in 2023
- USA is currently leading the development of the industry, but Europe and Sweden are expected to follow the trend
